Wood

In production of wooden windows, entrance doors, interior doors and furniture, DEKA-J.M. LLC employ pine, larch, oak, meranti and other tree species at the customer’s choice.
In Latvia, pine tree is used predominantly in production of wooden windows and doors because of its wide availability and relatively low cost. Pine as a raw material for window and door blanks features many positive qualities. It is relatively lightweight, easy to process, it has a beautiful pattern when tinted in comparison with other deciduous trees, it is highly resistant to decay and rot thanks to pine resinosity. Pine is also a mechanically durable tree which is an important aspect in the process of manufacture and use of the windows and the doors. DEKA-J.M. LLC make windows and entrance doors of glued three-layer beams from pine or other wood which is either fused along the entire length, or not, and that has a radial cut along the outer layers. This method of gluing beams ensures maximum mechanical durability of window and door constructions. Pine tree is used in production of windows and doors also because of its thermal resistance which is a beneficial quality for thermal efficiency throughout a private house or commercial facilities as a whole. In general, out of all the materials used in manufacture of windows and doors, dry tree, properly processed and colored, is an indispensable material. People who prefer wooden windows and doors normally expect to get aesthetic pleasure from the product. Such people are more focused on creation of ecological environment around them and think about their own future and health, as well as that of their children. Wooden doors and windows stand out against other window and door production materials with their environmental friendliness.
Outlook of larch wood windows resembles pine windows very much, yet they have finer fiber and a brighter shade of yellow. Larch features very nice texture, and it is also a very hard and resinous wood thus it is ensured for long service life and mechanical durability. Larch can be painted and stained just like pine tree. The service life of windows and doors will be much longer, but since it is a slow-growing tree species and is not common in our latitudes, its price is relatively higher than the cost of pine timber.
Appearance of oak windows cannot be confused with any other tree thanks to its delicate fibers and eye pleasing pattern. Oak is inherently a noble wood and stands out against other deciduous trees used in the manufacture of windows and doors with its wide range of shades and abundance of fiber patterns. Having high content of acid and tannin, oak makes the most durable wood – the older it grows, the stronger and the harder it becomes. With proper treatment and care, oak is virtually impossible to rot, wood pests do not crave for it, and it does not turn blue. Oak windows and doors are preferred by people really willing to pay a proper price for an investment in their future and enjoy it for many years.
Windows and doors made of meranti and other African and South American tree species have a very unusual variety of shades, colors, patterns and tints not typical of the European species. Meranti is a tree species with different density and shades inside and outside of a tree trunk. Outside, where the density is lower, the shade is pale red or pink, and closer to the core, where the density is higher, the color becomes dark red, burgundy or even reddish-brown. Moreover, within the same species of wood, the density may differ 1.5-2 times within the same trunk. Meranti is also a slow-growing tree with a very hard and dense timber that ensures long lifetime of windows and doors made of this tree.

Spacer

Spacer is a design that provides the necessary distance between the glass sheets, i.e., thickness of the chamber. Chamber thickness has direct effect on coefficient of thermal conductivity of glass. It decreases along with thickness of the chamber increasing to the optimum value, but then begins to grow again. This means that each double-glazed unit with a certain thickness has an optimal design of the chamber, whereby the thermal conductivity of the double-glazed unit is minimum. Normally, there are three types of frames – aluminum frame, frame of galvanized steel, and Termix frame. The thermal conductivity of the first two is relatively high, but Termix frame appeared on the market relatively recently and can significantly reduce the rate of thermal conductivity of glass. This fact also partially reduces or prevents steaming up along the perimeter of the glass. In general, the mist inside the windows indicates extra humidity in the room. The simplest solution to prevent steaming up is airing the room in the morning and evening. A more sophisticated option is to install ventilation equipment with varying degrees of complexity.

Glass

For production of their windows and doors, DEKA-J.M. LLC employ double-glazed units and decorative glass made by Glaskon LLC and First Glass Company LLC. Double-glazed unit is the largest detail of windows and doors therefore it is paid special attention to. Double-glazed unit is a construction of two or three glass sheets, connected to each other in the spacer and insulated. If there are two glass sheets – they form a single chamber, if there are three glass sheets – they form two chambers filled with dry air or inert gas. Windows produced by DEKA-JM LLC can be used in private homes, hotels, public buildings and commercial premises therefore all sorts of requirements are put forward double-glazed windows depending on application and functions thereof. Double-glazed windows may come with decorative glass, providing opacity of glass, or having the opposite effect with the help of a certain pattern, drawing or tint. In a single chamber double-glazed unit, decorative glass sheet will certainly face interior space; if there is double chamber double-glazed unit then the decorative glass will be put in the middle of the double-glazed unit. Double-glazed units with decorative glass are commonly used for windows and doors to bathrooms as well as in manufacture of partitions and separating walls in commercial premises. Widely used are also double-glazed windows with sound-proof effect provided by laminated glass which is made with a special noise protection resin. The effect of noise reduction can also be achieved by way of inserting glass of different thickness in the unit (e.g., a thickness of 4 and 6 mm or 4 and 8 mm). Such glazing option is generally picked by clients living near railways or tramway tracks, at the streets with very heavy traffic, near airports or other facilities where the level and characteristics of the noise differs from daily background noise. However, the most efficient double-glazed windows which are now used by 90% of customers are double-glazed windows with selective glass. Selective glass is glass having a microscopic metal coat on one side. These glass windows are also referred to as low-emission ones. When comparing the conventional double-glazed unit with double-glazed unit having low-emission glass, filled with inert gas, the result may differ even twice. This is achieved by selective or low-emission glass and gas.

Paints, stains, varnishes and oils

For exterior finish of wooden windows and doors, DEKA –J.M. LLC apply TEKNOS aqua, Remmers and other products. These manufacturers offer both topcoat product line with the entire RAL or NCS color spectrum possible, and translucent product line. Translucent products are available in basic colors that are offered by each manufacturer. These shades differ among the manufacturers, so there is a very wide choice. Being manufacturers with years of experience and length of service in wooden window and door production, we suggest painting the exterior of the windows and doors with topcoats. These paints provide greater protection against UV rays, moisture, fungi, and various pests compared with translucent materials. All the paints are applied to a pre-prepared surface. First of all, the window or door blank is impregnated with uncolored solution to protect the wood against blue stain, rot and pests. Thereafter, the blank is treated with primer. Finally, follow three layers of base paint, which is generally a protective layer of the finished window or door. When using translucent finish, impregnation is carried out just in the same manner as under topcoats. After impregnation, a layer of primer is applied giving the desired shade to the item. The primer is followed by two layers of tinted lacquer (azure). All works are carried out by method of high-pressure painting, in dye chamber, in order to achieve the required thickness of paint and coating quality. For interior finish of windows and doors, we predominantly use lacquers and tinting products of AkzoNobel and TEKNOS. When decorating interior doors and furniture, we apply polyurethane lacquers, stains and nitro varnishes of Herlack Coswig Gmbh, RENNER, and Beckers. Interior finish lacquers are available with various gloss degrees. All products are EC and ISO certified to guarantee their quality and reliability.
